Bach 2- and 3-part inventions...? - cubcur
Thank you to the scholastic CubCur now we know why they call inventions (I think). My question is simple, at least, it is exactly what the two or three "parties? Voice? Right and left pedals more? In the latter case, what happens when the 3-parters are played on the piano? Dropped line is the pedal ?

There are canonical works - imitatve with counterpoint.
The two part inventions are also only two votes, according to another - as a round.
The 3-part inventions are the same, only one third --- imitating voices, but because there are only two hands, one hand playing two voices sometimes. Sometimes the voice is like 3 in the hands.
Bach wrote 2, 3, 4 a.m. to 5 p.m. against leaks - for people with only two hands. It is not easy, but it is, it should be played! :-)
"Voices" is a very good way to describe each of the parties.
